Talent Sensory Integration

Talent Sensory Integration
The concept of sensory integration was proposed by Jean Ayres of the University of Southern California in 1969.
Sensory integration: refers to the process in which an individual forms an effective combination of various sensory stimulation information entering the brain in the central nervous system. That is, individuals effectively use their senses in a specific environment to obtain information from different sensory pathways from the environment and input it into the brain. The brain processes the input information (including: interpretation, comparison, enhancement, suppression, connection, and unification). and the ability to respond adaptively. Sensory integrative dysfunction refers to a defect caused by the inability of various sensory stimulation information entering the brain to form an effective combination within the central nervous system. Sensory integration disorder, also known as “Neurobehavioral Dysfunction”, is a central nervous system disorder that mostly occurs in children aged 4 or 5 to 11 or 12 years old. Sensory integration ability is a function possessed by the brain itself, but the development of this function also needs to be stimulated by environmental stimulation and requirements. Most children develop their sensory integration skills through play, sports, and leisure activities. But for some children, sensory integration skills don’t develop as effectively as they should. The reasons include two aspects:
(1) Innate factors
Imperfect central nervous system, such as: developmental delay, mild brain dysfunction, brain damage, etc.
Improper fetal position, incorrect medication and injections during pregnancy
(2) Acquired environmental factors
Premature birth or caesarean section, birth asphyxia, anoxic shock
Small space for activities or excessive reliance on walkers, resulting in insufficient crawling
Overprotective or overly restrictive
lack of peer group
Lack of outdoor activities and various sports
Cognitive education too early
TVs and game consoles have become children’s main toys
